Day 3–Florence, Oregon to Eureka, California

Today was good and bad. The weather wasn't too fun to explore anywhere.

We braved blustery winds and rain to check out the sand dunes in Florence Oregon. I like the beach here; the sand was soft despite the rain and the wind tossed up waves. Despite the rain, there were guys getting ready to rip around on ATVs. If I was living here, I'd do the same.

Most of the landscape was coastal rainforest and dense greenery, similar to something you would you see in Tofino. After about 6 hours we fast tracked the rest of the coast by heading inland and jumping on the main interstate.

We drove south a couple of hours before making our way down to California to check out the Redwood Forest. The pics don't do justice to the size of the trees.

One town of note as we headed down the California coast was Crescent Beach. The town itself was nothing to write about but the beach was really cool with endless stretches of beach and surf. We took this opportunity to add to Caine's road pop blog and I wanted to check out the surfers braving the cold. Pretty rad beach but crappy little town.

It was continually rainy and foggy for the last couple of hours before we ended up in Eureka, California. We stayed at a ghetto Motel 6 that reek like old cigarettes. We thought they had internet but it wasn't working in our room. Apparently only some of the rooms had it. We needed internet–we were going through Facebook withdrawal plus we needed to check out places to stay in San Francisco. I'm not so sure if we're going to stay at Motel 6 anymore, we've established a standard as result of this place. We need a place that doesn't reek and has to have an internet connection.

I slept terrible, I felt like I smoked cigs in my sleep. Someone please tell me how you smoke at home 'cause everthing ends up smelling like dirty old smoke. Even when I was showering, it smelt like smoke. Gross. I can't wait to leave.
