Day 12 Austin, Texas

We did a marathon of a drive from the Grand Canyon to Austin–22 hours but I'm glad we did, it was a happening weekend.

It's HOT in Austin. The temperature reaches the 40's. Walking out of my motel room was like opening an oven door– a blast of heat just envelopes your body and you instantly sweat.

If you come to Austin check out South Congress Street, South Austin
Cupcake truck!
We stayed at the Austin Motel on Congress in south Austin, an area with cool restaurants and shops. If you ever roll into town, you should stay there or if you're willing to drop some more cash, there's this motel called Jupiter that I walked by that looks awesome. It resembles a little Villla and the kind of place you take a date.

We wandered around the shops in the area in the blazing heat and after a quick lap, we went back and lounged in the air conditioned motel room.

I napped for a couple of hours before heading to this rad Mexican Restaurant next door to the motel. They had an outdoor area with a band and a bar under a beautiful giant tree all lit up in white lights. Ice cold beers out doors were awesome, especially when it got cooler to actually be outside.

There were tons of done up Harleys.

After dinner we headed into town to Red River district. It's where all the bars were so we headed out there to check out live music. We had heard that there's a bike gathering in Austin. Apparently 4000 bikers were in town and it didn't take us long to see them everywhere. We cruised around people watching for a couple of hours. The place was bustling...to put it lightly.

A good rock show isn't good til you have some one passed out drunk on stage.
We checked out EMO, an indi-rock venue. I really like this place, it was very cool and $5 bucks for two of us to get into a place with live music.
